2015 NFL Season Preview

Teams that will surprise on the upside and downside!

By - Kory Kinslow

We'll start off with teams that I believe will surprise many in faltering in this season. We have seen a few big moves in the off-season and a few teams that seemed to do nothing. Many teams lost players and didn't seem to replace them at that position or strengthening other positions to change the team dynamic. The question is always, do you have enough to win or did your stagnant approach to helping your team produce end up hurting you?

New England Patriots
I know, I know, we always think that they can't get it done and they always do. I just think that with the losses in the defensive backfield, and with the possible suspension of Tom Brady, that the Patriots will be playing catch up all year long and won't be able to. I look at this team and I just don't see the talent. I see a few good players, surrounded by role players, that won't be able to fill that role.

They made no major off-season moves other than losing some corners and I think this will cause more harm than the Brady suspension. But what does the machines picks say?

Philadelphia Eagles
I see Sam Bradford getting hurt once again, and this team being without a decent quarterback. This is a system that is very dependent on the Quarterback to make decisions and I don't think they have anyone that can do that. They did pick up two very good running-backs, but I don't know that they fit the style of play that they have. I think it's going to be a surprisingly bad season in Philly.

Miami Dolphins
I don't know if this is a surprise, but I see a lot of people thinking that this is going to be a great team this year. I agree that talent wise, they made some improvements. I just don't see a leader on this team. I see a lot of good players that are individuals and will not buy into any team concept. They might make the playoffs, but I see them more as a .500 team and I don't think that's what people are looking at them as right now. That's also the thinking of the expert sports pick

Now that we've gotten the negatives out of the way, there are a couple of teams that I think people are looking down on right now, that once the season gets going are only going to improve and get themselves into the playoffs while peaking at the right time.

Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys lost the best running back in the league statistically. I understand that. They did keep Dez Bryant, got better on defense, got healthy on defense, and will start the season with a stockpile of decent running-backs. This is a team built on the offensive line and the defensive line and linebackers. They are a different team that is set up to win and win now. They have an experience quarterback who seems to have improved over the years and receivers and tight-ends that can catch and run with the ball. I believe that Darren McFadden will have a break-out season if he can get healthy. He will be able to split carries and I believe that he was at his best in college when he had Felix Jones running as a scat back along-side of him. This is a team poised to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Buffalo Bills
I keep hearing how the Bills don't have a quarterback. Well, they have running-backs, receivers, and a defense that is as good as any in the league! This is the typical, winning, Rex Ryan team. He has exactly what he wanted, but after the first couple of years, couldn't get in New York. I believe that this team will make it to the playoffs and show some people that they are deserving of being my AFC surprise team this year.
